Pet Portraits

By 'pet' portrait I mean any pet! Be it furry, feathery, slimy or scaly!

All pets have their own personalities and I do my best to capture this in my paintings of them.

I work from photos, the better quality of the photo, the more detail I can add to the portrait. Several photos, including some close ups where I can see the fur, scale, or feather detail is really helpful, but what is essential is that you choose a photo that captures the character of your pet.

For larger portraits, I usually work in pastels, for miniatures I use gouache, but I also use acrylics on canvas which are especially good for painting reptiles and amphibians.
